goldengladiator '71 Challenger
« on: February 22, 2009 - 08:39:35 AM »
Hey moderators, I hope you guys dont mind but I want to talk about this car and figured it shouldnt be done through the photo thread....

Here is my car. It's my second classic MOPAR. I had a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with a 383, 3 speed. It's a '71 base Challenger. It was a B5 blue, blue interior, auto, 318 back in '71. When I got it was a HEMI orange and rust holes, spray painted pack interior, 1980's truck 360, auto car. My uncle and I did all the work. Body work was done, floor was patched, trunk patched, new passenger side fender, new front a rear valances. The engine is now a brand new 360 4-barrel. Still has an automatic transmission. The hood is the one that came with it, a '70 R/T hood. I put on a true duel exhaust. The interior is white with rally gauges. The white vinyl top is an OEM option. The wheels are off of a Buick Grand National. And of course, it's painted moulin rogue/panther pink now, When I eventually redo the paint to something better than two guys in the garage, I will probably lose the vinyl top and replaces the SE rear window with a full-size rear window. The SE was just the window that was in it when I bought it.

And my '06 Charger R/T...

More info please!! Dont throw away that back window yet! you may have a very rare car. Do you have a fender tag under your hood? does it say A78 ?

I do have the fender tag. It isn't an SE or an SE rear window option... Anything like that. The car was basically this: B5 blue, blue interior, interior lighting option (whatever you call it), 318, automatic, A/C, white vinyl top, bucket seat, floor console.

Then, when I got the car, someone had painted it HEMI orange with a black bumble bee stripe. They had also spray painted (don't ask me) the interior black, put an engine that I assume was out of a Dodge truck and took the car through a lot of mud... a LOT of mud. It also had rust everywhere and a few dents.

I replaced the trunk floor, driver's side front flood, patched some holes, replaced both lower rear quarters, put on a new trunk lid, new passenger side front fender... replaced the rear window-to-trunk area... new interior, new engine that actually runs...

So, the summary is that it isn't an SE car. Or an R/T car. They just took the SE window and '70 R/T hood out a junkyard. In fact, the window has some plum crazy paint on it.

Hope that helps. Any questions?

Also, here are some more pictures... I have no idea what the SE window trim inside was supposed to look like, but mine was shot, so I glued some headliner material over it.

Thanks for all the compliments! That was just my favorite color combination and you only live once, right? I may be the toughest guy driving a pink car in Ohio. Ha ha.
