This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda was entered in Pike’s Peak hillclimb events starting in 1972 and the seller ties its build to several famous NASCAR Mopar specialists from back in the day. The sale includes interesting early racing photos and documentation though the car has not raced in many years.

Interesting car but it looks like a cut up '72-74 Barracuda race car shell with no VIN.  I don't see it's value being much more than the deposit but we'll see where the bidding goes.

The story is true as I have talked to one of the characters about the car and can recall some of the details of other aspects of the story. I even had one of the programs pictured in the story at one time. Is it "the" car, probably. But, it is tough to prove it outside of paint chips and stories since documentation on many race cars modified to this degree is never easy.

It's nostalgia and it worth whatever that nostalgia is worth to someone, much like any other car of its heritage and era. Heck, even Petty has acknowledged that they never cared much about last years race cars, which is why they have a fair amount of value today. Will it sell for more than $10k, probably not now, but it may someday.

how true

Just not much there for that amount of money for a hill climb car. If it were a trans am or a nascar stocker I could see it.

I gues it's history yer paying for. Look at Obamas 300 chrysler. and the price it sold for. People love the history and memories.  Someone may just buy it. Someone that had seen it in action when they were young and want the memory back

As sure as I can possibly be, this is the real deal.  As was mentioned, it has the 70 only frame rail that runs the e-brake cable down the left side.  The value is debatable as it sits now, but all you need are 2 or 3 people that have some sort of emotional tie to it, and who knows where it will go.
