« on: March 04, 2009 - 01:37:47 PM »
Looking for the thing with all the little tubes coming out of it.Right behind the fuel tank. Mayby a roll-over valve? Breather?  Not sure,Can't find it for sale anywhere. What is it?  Where can I get a new one?        :clueless:   Thanks Robert.

pretty sure there are no reproductions... I'd call it a manifold,  the book calls it a vapor liquid separator.  Unless you are putting the pollution vent back to the carb. through the charcoal canister back it is not necessary.

& I sure would not pay $65.00 for one

What if you have the vapor separator on the original tank but are putting in a reproduction without it? I have wondered that for a while. I got a really good deal on a tank with 3/8 sending unit but have wondered if pressure will build up with the tank sealed tight. Is there a secondary vapor vent setup that will relieve pressure?

you need a way to let air in as the fuel level drops to prevent a vacuum from forming, a vented gas cap should work or there are 1-way vents made for motorcycles that could be put on the tank vent tube

Not trying to hijack but please answer me this. Does anyone make a locking, venting gas cap for the 71 Challenger tank neck? It has always been a pia to get a good cap for a 71 for some reason and I dont want to pay hundreds for a locking cap to go with my flip top.

I assume your using a flip top  ...Auto Zone lists this for 70 & 73 , probably not vented as both had some sort of vapor recovery , as small drill bit will solve that.
