1970 seats with 71 foams and covers?
« on: March 08, 2009 - 08:15:49 PM »
I will try to make sense of what I want to do. I have a set of 71 seats that were redone in my cars past with a greyish blue material. They are really pretty nice and I would like to just mothball them for something in the future. I have a set of 70 seats that need to be redone and I am wanting to put 71 deluxe foams and covers on them. I know there was a slight difference in the hinge area but am not too sure what it is. My other interior is at my dads which makes it hard to compare. Anything wrong with doing what I am thinking of? Here are pics of the interior pieces I want to put up.

This is actually a great question. I believe the 71's still had the hard plastic seat back, so the question is will the difference in the hinge area wreck your plans. I would love to see what that 71 hinge looks like, then I could give you the green light.   :pullinghair:

I know if I remember right that there was a change sometime during the 1970 model year. I know the seat backs are the same or at leas I think so. I dont need the seats to be perfect, as long as they will take the 71 foams and covers I think I will be ok. I guess I need to compare seat backs between the 2 sets before I go any further. I was just hoping someone had come across this problem before.

I should probably shut my mouth, but those seat foams you want to use were on the 70 cars with salt and pepper cloth seats. I think your idea should work.  I hope someone can give you more hope than me.   :grinyes:
