    10 inch wheel on e body

    I'm wondering if a 10 in. wheel with a 275/60/15 BF will work on the rear of my Challenger.
    I don't have the backspace measurment on the wheel but it's an old aluminum slot.

    The backspacing is the key here, but I doubt you can run a 10" rim without modifications...Like moving the springs further inward. Those sized tires will fit on an 8" rim, for what it's worth.

    the tire will fit depending on rim backspace , the rim may also pull the tire wider & cause interference with the body

    OK thanks guys,
    I was  concerned that may be the case. I'm glad I asked. I guess I'll keep loking for a set of 15x8's.  I bought a set or I thought. They listed as 15x8 but ended up being 14 in. The guy says he'll make things right, seems it was an oversight. Anybody know of some 15x8 alum slots or 15x8 ralley?

    I have 15 x 9's on mine with no mods at all to the wheel lips or springs and there is room for more. The key like others have said is the backspacing.

    Having mocked up several sets of 15x10 with various back spacing, I don't see how they can fit within the wheel wells with the stock location springs and stock width rear end housing. Move the springs or change the housing and then it becomes only an issue of backspacing.

    You know, you can get those aluminum slot mags new in 17" diameters now.

    Well I decided to go with some 15x7 1/2 wheels I found. The 275's will still work on those and clear for sure.
    Are you talking about the 17's made by Ansen?  I bought a set of 15's a while back and when I got em' found they are made in china now. I sent them back.
    I can handle the , toaster,camera,phone, etc etc..  made over there, seems like just about everything, but not wheels for my MOPAR.
    I had the old slots on my first Challenger and always liked them.

    Years ago I put some 15x10 reproduction Ralley wheels on my Cuda with 275 60 15's.
    They fit, but it's tight. On a hard bump you might occasionally scrape.
    The attached photos were a comparison from 15x7's that I had on the back prior to the change.  And, my springs are not moved.

    Cudas most definately have less rear tire clearance because of the body lines. :grinyes:

    Man that is a nice Barracuda.  I see the tight fit but they did work.
    I bought a set of 15x 7/2 wheels and still plan on the 275/60's. Thanks for the pics, it gives a clear observation of how it looks.  I'm really looking forward to matching wheels and tires.
    I'm thinking of changing hoods. I'd like a hinged hood that won't cost a fortune. I found a fiberglass one with hinge mounts for about $425. The one on the car now I'll sell or trade if you know anyone looking.
    By the way you said 408 huh? I have a 360 in this car I'm pretty serious about putting a stroker kit in. I ran a 69' 340 years back that screamed, I'd love to have another but price holy cow.  I have studied on these stroker 360's and they will lay some serious hp/ tourqe numbers so I think we'll run it. How do you like it. Do you reccomend doing one. Take it easy.

    I know that this is suppose to be a post about wheels, but since you asked about the 408, I'll say that the upgrade from a 360 to a 408 was worth it to me.  Horsepower will always be a factor of how much money you've got to spend.  Building a nice 408 was more costly than building a comparable 360, but the torque is noticible and awesome.

    Rob where do you live?  I have a set of 15X8 Ralleys I'm eventually going to replace with 17X8 wheels.
