ARIZONA REG QUESTIONS
« on: March 10, 2009 - 04:36:50 PM »
Ok, I live in Calif. now but I lived in Az for 3 years before I got my challenger. I have thought about moving back one day but was always worried about the smog reg. As I recall there cut off is 1968. What has to be done to run a 73 E-body in Arizona?
I am not going back any time soon, but if I need to I don't want to be screwed. Any tips for AZ. reg on a challenger?

My car always passed but you could just get collectors insurance if yours wont pass. No inspection needed but you do have to go in person to get your tag at the DMV.

The only problem with collector car insurance is you have to keep the mileage down

I have collector car insurance on my 70 Cuda and all I have to do is pay the $19 registration each year (the insurance is about $200 per year).  It is really nice, not worrying about passing emissions.  I'm not sure what the total mileage is a year, but I drive about 1000 miles a year and I know that is under the max I can drive according to the insurance company.

If you live in Phoenix or Tucson you have to get tested. We live about 15 miles south of Tucson, and don't have to test. Not sure about the rest of the state.

I can only speak for the metro Phoenix area, but as long as you have collector car insurance you do not have to get it emissions tested.  I live in Chandler, AZ just outside of Phoenix and no emission testing for me due to my car has the collector car insurance.
