Front Disc Brakes

Has anyone ever tried to use 73 front rotors on a 71?  My 71 already has front disc, but I ordered new rotors and they are for a 73.  The bearing race in the the hub is the wrong size and the 73 bearing ID is much larger.  I may just have to send them back, but I was wondering if there was an easy bearing conversion or something that anyone might know about.  Thanks.

Spindles is what you would have to change.

Yep the 73 and up inner bearing is 1.375" I've heard on here talking about someone making a bearing conversion but can't remember who? If you ever want to use bigger rotors you will need 73 up spindles or this "conversion kit". Me I'd find the spindles!

I used them on my 69 Newport because 73 Newport Spindles are very hard to find and 71 rotors are $$$$.

With the ease of finding the spindles you need, I wouldn't waste the time on the adaptors.

Or get the magnumforce drop spindles.

Just so you know these are not the big rotor conversion. But I'm sure they will work fine.

Thanks for the info.  I was kind of worried about that.  I just replaced all of my front suspension, only to find this ....  Isn't that the way it is supposed to go though?  A 2" drop on a big block?  Is that possible without doing some mods?  Also, is there a different sized hole in the upper balljoint mount on a 73 than 71?  Or is the size of the spindle shaft the only difference?

the spindle diameter is the only difference , the ball joint is the same
