Smoke From Upper Steering Column
« on: March 19, 2009 - 07:19:35 PM »
I was stopped at a light in the car today and noticed some smoke coming out of the upper part of the steering column, right where the wheel meets the column. What would this most likely be? The turn signal switch and harness or ignition one. If I replace one, should I do both at the same time? Does it pay to get the Chrysler parts instead of aftermarket?

could be either , they are both in the same place
no point in buying the Mopar TS switch it is made by the same people but is 3-4 times the cost
 I use Standard ign part # TW7

Thanks, the shop that will be replacing it, more than likely for free except for parts, recommended the Chrsyler ones. Would ACDELCO Part # C1459 {#88921978} be fine for the starter switch, any known quality issues.
