Fliptop gas top

trying to install my new fliptop gas lid I got from PG Classics and it seems that the ring is very slopy and is not tight up against the body?? Anyone here everhave this problem?? Any solutions?? Also my filler tube mounting holes didn't quite line with the body (new Quater???) but I think I can get around that....maybe....

sounds like the cap area in the new quarter is stamped wrong

I have seen others posting here about the ring not fitting good on stock quarters to.  Everyone was complaining about the same issue. Do you have yer old fliptop you can try and see if it fits snug.

How loose is it?

The tabs on the ring can be bent out to snug it up within reason, my repro was the same way.

The indent that the flip top goes into on the repro quarter is angled a bit, whereas the original quarter was a straight-in type of indent.  What we did with mine (PG also) was grind off just a bit of the outside edges of the mounting tabs of the filler itself.  You don't have to take off much material at all, just grind a bit and test fit it.

I got one from them too. Mine was very loose as well, but I figured it out. Look at the inner ring ( on trim ring) notice the tabs that have a bit of a bend ( crease) too them? Well grab a pair of pliers and bend them a little more to take up the slop. I believe that's how they are designed to work. Meaning the corner that you just bent will press against the cap when you screw it down and take up the slack.
