A lttle good news from Chrysler
« on: March 27, 2009 - 01:56:25 PM »
I saw this in the auto industry newsletter Autobeat:

CHRYSLER BRINGS CALL CENTERS BACK FROM INDIA. Chrysler LLC is moving its customer-assistance call center from India to the U.S. in what it describes as a customer retention effort.
Within several months, all Chrysler customers who dial the 800-number for assistance will be routed to representatives
in Rochester Hills, Mich., or Salt Lake City, Utah. Chrysler Customer Satisfaction Director Paul Alcala, who disclosed the change in a posting on the corporate Red Letter Dodge blog, did not elaborate on the reasons for the change.
Some companies that had moved their call centers overseas to reduce labor costs are now repatriating them because of customer backlash. Readers of the Dodge blog who responded to Alcala’s posting hailed the decision for reasons ranging from better information to the preservation of American jobs.

That does sound good.  My wife recently lost her job to a call center in the Philippines.

I am glad that Chrysler is doing that.  Sorry to hear about the job loss though.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I understand that Office Depot did the same thing.  Our dispatcher makes our office supply orders and has gone round-and-round with call center operators in India before.   Last week, he called them and got an American who told him they had shifted the call center back to the U.S.

Chrysler (MOPAR) has always been at the forefront of inovation, bringing back the jobs to the home country is a step in the right direction.   :iagree:

Here in Australia we have just found out that the famous Aussie Slouch Hat that is a symbol of Australian Soldiers is to be made overseas,   :22yikes:   that has made us real mad   :villagers:
