How to open and remove glove lock that's broken?????

I have a big problem! The glove box lock is broken with the glove box door closed.
How do I open the door and remove the lock???
The bad part is that the guy who I bought the car from put a new glove box in... so I will have to cut the box open and buy a new one also..bummer
The lock just turns around and will not open.
Help!

I would cut the glove box since they are only like 14 bucks for a new one.

Have you tried inserting a key into it & turning it , I bet it is just the chrome face that is broken

As usual you were right on. The chrome face is broken and the key did finally open it. Also, when I turned the lock and opened the door whole lock and  tumbler came out. I just slid it back in.

Anyone knows how to remove the lock from the glove box door ?   Seems like the lock is made by two parts that go through the hole on the door.  But I don't see any screw to separe them.

I got my glove box door out only to find out that none of the trunk keys I have fit it. Guess I will be making a trip to the locksmith.
