New Water Pump Choices

Hey guys, I got lots of input on which fan to go with for my 440 cuda and decided to order the factory clutch fan from summit.  i was out in the shop tonight and wanted to reroute the heater core hoses along the fenderwell (previous owner had them running next to the intake).  Anyway, when I pulled the lines off the water pump I saw that one of the inlets (the ones that thread into the waterpump) was broken off so that it was quite short - in other words with the hose on the water pump there was only about a 1/4 inch for the hose and clamp to grab onto and there obviously was no ridge or bump at the top to help hold the hose on.  Not really happy with this Mickey mouse approach so I decided to remove the inlet pipe and replace.  Howver that was a no go as it is seized into the waterpump pretty good.  Anyway, as I have a bit of a cooling issue anyway (which I Hope the clutch fan will partially cure) I figured maybe I should just replace the waterpump with a aftermarket high flow unit.  So to make a long story short, any recommendations on which pump to get?   I'd like something that flows a lot of water and looks good.  Any ideas?  As I said i'm putting in a Summit order soon so it could come from them, just not sure which style, etc I should order.  Thanks for the help guys, Tyler

I replaced my waterpump last summer with an aftermarket aluminum one I purchased I think from 440 Source. You might want to make sure that you don't have other flow issues. Try removing the radiator cap. Make sure it's not hot first!! Look to see how well the water is flowing through the radiator. Check it after the car has warmed up and the thermostat is open. Low flow may be a clogged radiator. I also think that the stock waterpump impeller can be replaced with a impeller that moves more water. Like a 5 blade vs 4 blade?? I think Mopar Performance also make an aluminum high volume water pump. If you search Summit by engine application it will pull up applicable units. The aluminum one will save a little on weight. I had no problems with the one I got from 440 Source. Good luck!!

Thanks, I'll have to check the rad, I think a lot of my heat issues are because of the no fan or shroud situation.  However because the waterpump shol dbe replaced anyway becasue of the broken inlet mentioned above I thought I should go  with a high volume one.  Anyone else?

I ust checked the 440 Source web site. I did get my waterpump there and my new housing as well. Works great! Good products. They give specs on the pumps as well. I think 40 GPM?? Worth looking into!! They have a lot of choices. Ther's a lot of good info on their site, even if you don't buy from them!

mancini racing usually has a good housing/pump deal....
