545RFE questions...
« on: March 25, 2009 - 12:17:37 AM »
I want to put a 545RFE in my duster but I'm having a hard time finding an answer to mainly one question,  does the 545RFE in 2004+ have its own computer or does it share the 5.7L ECU?  I was told that 2003 had a ECU and a TCM,  and 2004+ use just the ECU for transmission control and engine management, but I've also been told its exactly the other way around?  I trust both sources so I'm trying to take a democratic approach

The 2003 5.7 and tranny I got from a Dodge Ram 4X4 had separate controllers for the tranny and engine.

My main concern besides the computer is the transmissions physical size, I know i need to modify the tunnel but how much and where I have no idea, I can't find dimensions anywhere online, does anyone have general dimensions like Length, width, height, and maybe even girth about midway between bellhousing and end of tailshaft?

Just to get back on this, the core I have is a 4X4 so the length will be different then a 2WD. Do you still want me to measure it?
