Door top molding

Just picked up my new door top molding and now the question is how best to mount the trim. Put the retainers in the door first and slide the trim along the door as you go? Or is there a simpler way.
Appreciate the help.

If these are repros the long piece will need to be shaped. My body man just did mine. The piece was straight and the door bows.

They are the repros. No problem shaping them, I am just having difficulty pressing them on. Is this the best way to do it? Hate to have to use a rubber hammer.

Has anyone installed these themselves or is this a body shop thing. I have straightened them to fit but just can't seem to get them to snap on.
Is there a method to doing this other than using a hammer.
Thanks.
