Front drum missing stud...
« on: April 14, 2009 - 02:01:05 AM »
Found out today while working on the car that I have a missing wheel stud....front drum...

Looks like whoever removed the stud hacked the drum pretty good......they messed up the area the stud goes thru pretty good....

Think this drum can be salvaged or is the mounting surface too far gone?

How tough will it be to find a good drum?

Looks like you need the hub too. Somebody heated that with a torch.  :grinyes:

How can you tell it was heated?

But yeah I guess the damage is actually the hub....are they two seperate parts then?  Came off together.,.....

SO , hard to find or not so bad?

Can this one be repaired?

I eventually want to put on disks in the front...just looking to get the car on the road for now......can this be welded?  Thinking I could fill in the void with weld and then grind flat??

It just looks like it was heated up. Might have been a grinder(?) I guess you could weld it. It shouldn't be that hard to find another drum. They aren't exactly highly sought after items.

I will probably put it back on as is for now......keeping my eyes open for a used drum/hub I guess.....

How does the hub detach from the drum?

You have to beat the studs out with a hammer and the hub will fall out.

Now you need to come down for sure!!! I have a few front drums around. May as well bring your list of other needed parts too.
