Yeah, blue is deep cell. I think it has the studs and wing nuts on the posts. Around here all I see are red tops. I see a couple of yellow tops but I dont know what the difference is between the red and yellow.   :dunno:

Yellow top is deep cycle, whatever that means.   :clueless: I read red top was for ordinary cars, so I went in that direction.  I'm just so glad I can post once again without offering any help.

I like to use the Yellow top on my collector cars.  They have plenty of cranking power, and hold up better to longer periods of downtime.

Makes sense. Isn't the deep cycle suppose to be for long term discharge without ruining the battery? :dunno:

I went with the red top though just to make sure I drive her more often.

Living in Wisconsin means I don't get to use them for prolonged periods of time whether I want to or not. :banghead:
Maybe I should buy a snowmobile, or just move.

I have the Red top Optima, its a few years old, just unhook it and left it in the car this last winter, come back 3 months later and hook a charger up to it, no need, was still fully charged.

Boy they aren't cheap thou...got mine from Sears after their Die Hards Golds kept dieing every year. Took it in their shop too so they could check the charging system, guy said get the Optima...was cool I got credit for my old battery.

The Optima 35 Battery (at $149) showed up by UPS and I installed it today. It was surprising how small they are. At 33 pounds it seems a lot lighter then a standard battery too.  :dunno: I need a riser or to cut the j-hooks as they set well above the top.

It worked fine through out the day. I hope to post back in about ten years with a recap if all goes well. stay tuned.  ...........
