Small cars get poor marks in crash tests

Well they're lil tin cans. That's a no brainer they're not safe.

Can't imagine running one of those matchbox cars into a Hummer!!! Might be great on gas, but still no match for a 5,000lb truck or SUV!!!

What would anyone exspect on that kind of match up.  Did not figure they would do well.  They do not up armor the match box cars.

     that`s a stupid test....  a fully loaded Peterbilt will smash a hummer like a tomato too....
In the Netherlands there are mostly small cars on the road, so chances are pretty big you will hit another small car.
My daily is bmw 7.... I don`t like small cars

Small cars can be built well enough to take ridiculous impact.  Get to small though like where we are heading, and its almost impossible to make something structural.

My wife's sister drives a Scion Xa, it is a small piece of crap. I would be scared to drive something so small around town, especially here in Texas where everyone drives trucks.

Ive always been a person who prefers to be driving something with a frame under me such as a pick up truck or SUV.  I presently have an 05 Ford F150 and my wife used to have a 2001 Honda Civic.  She got rear ended while she was at a dead stop in traffic on a highway by a 19 yr old girl in a ford focus.  Over 5 grand worth of damage to my wifes car.  Rear end crumpled like you were squeezing a soda can.  Now since that accident, she wants something bigger, presently she has a 05 Ford Explorer Limited.  Since then, not only does she feel safer if she should get into an accident, but also has a better piece of mind knowing that our daughter is in something higher up and built more solid.  After seeing those reports on the smaller cars, I am glad that she did the right thing and got the Explorer.
