Thanks guys!
The solution- prybar at the front of the manifold.
When I took off the intake, I found that the gasket on the left side
Was wrinkled, or improperly seated. There was a few drops of rtv here and
there.
There is no baffle on this engine. Is that correct?
I will blast the I.M today and prep it for paint. Any tips?
Chryco, as always, THANKS!!!
The distributor has the vacuum advance facing the pass bank.
My next job is to yank the wires and label them.
I'll post some pics later!
Thanks,
Dan

If you're talking about a lifter valley baffle to keep the hot oil off the Intake, they don't come with them, no. I think Moroso sells them. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in the direction the rotor moves. If ya get crossed up just get #1 cylinder at TDC on the compression stroke and the rotor will point to #1 on the cap.

Do not sand blast the inside (valley) area of the intake!!! If possible, only the top surface, dont go into the ports of cross over. Be very thorough washing it after.

 :'( :dunno:
Wow... I had no idea about not blasting the bottom side of the I.M.!!
Holy crap moper! You just saved me some coin! Goof thing the weather got rainy and I had to watch the kids, otherwise, it would be a sad story!
I will tape the living daylights out of the manifold, and not get anything in the runners. Then I will blast only the front side.
So do I need a baffle?
Thanks for the distributor advice, I really appreciate it.

Best,
Dan

if the intake has the heat plate rivited to the bottom of the intak edefintaly do not blast it , a friend glass beaded his intake & 3 times we had to pull the oil pump as the bypass valve got stuck open  with glass bead , the third time I clued in & asked where the glass could be continually coming from , we pulled the intake & removed the heat sheild & it was full of glass bead in there
