blinker light stays on
« on: April 21, 2009 - 05:20:26 PM »
My right blinker light stays on when the headlights or fog lights are on, everything works the way it was intended, replaced all bulbs on the car, but with no luck, not sure were to start looking. Not sure if it will pass inspection with that light on.

The light staying on is intended to mean there is a bulb out somewhere. Often times it's just a bad ground. I'm assuming you have a Cuda since you mention fog lights, so I'm not much help here in pointing out trouble spots.   :sadwavey:  When I had this problem on my Chally, one of my front parking lights was rather dim. My problem was the housing for the parking light/turn signal bulb, was not secured to the body for a good ground. Having two out of three screws stripped will do that.   :pullinghair:

I agree with a bad ground power is finding ground through that light

you guys were right, just wasn't getting a good ground on the right front blinker. All's well. But having another issue with the dome light, it just stays on all the time, I need to purchase the door jam switches for the doors so there are not installed yet, would that cause it to stay on?

It was different how they wired things back then. The power was always there at the lights. The switch was on the ground wire. Some how your dome light is getting a ground connection. The door jam switch is indeed on the ground side....I'm not sure anything I said will help you, but you definitely need the door jam switches for starters.

looks like as soon as up unscrewed the dome light base from the roof, the light went off, so the screws holding the dome light base is grounding on the roof. You'd think the socket would be insolated from the base. I just insolated the screws so they wouldn't touch the base but still hold it up, also, the drivers side door jam switch is a 3 prong switch, can't find that switch anywhere, everywhere i read it's only supposed to be on the '71 challengers and not my '72.
