"tear drop" for Edelbrock carb?
« on: April 27, 2009 - 09:57:06 AM »
Picked up a Lokar throttle kit at Carlisle on saturday and hooked it up sunday.

Nice kit!

But, the picture shows a "teardrop" for the spring hookup ......attaches behind the kickdown parts.....

My carb doesnt have one and the kit doesnt provide it,....

I have an Edelbrock Performer 750.......where can I get this "teardrop" ?

I'm not 100% sure but do you have the adaptor to use the edelbrock carb on mopars? Maybe not...just a shot :-)

I have the throttle cable, the lokar bracket and the trans kickdown cable. One of the three must have come with the teardrop for the return spring. Probably the lokar bracket.

...the bracket comes with it. i used the stud/bolt for the kickdown connection to the carb to hold it to the linkage

Is that the right teardrop??  :misbehaving:

i have used the unit here in the pic and i had nothing but problems with it, it wont stay in position, it always moved no matter how tight i made it and eventually pulled the stud out of the manifold, there are other units that bolt to 2 studs and works much easier, just my 2 cents

Well, I got my setup from Queens Autobody in PA.....bought it at the Carlisle show this past weekend.....after realizing I was missing the tearddrop I started sniffing around. :ebay:

I contacted Lokar who told me that the teardrop comes packaged in the bracket kit.  "Packaged?" I said.....all I got wasa loose bracket and spriongs in a bag....the tech told me that all there brackets are shrinkwrapped on a card....and that the bracket I received WASNT their bracket.  It looks exactly like the one pictured above....  The Lokar bracket has an additional tab and set screw on it where the kickdown apparantly ties in somehow.....so needless to say I want the right one.

I called Queens and the guy there said that they had run out at the show so they substituted a different bracket.......(the guy at the show NEVER told me that!!!! He just tossed them into the bag and took my $120!!!)  ....he also said that "Lokar didnt use the teardrop until about a year ago...it isnt needed".....Lokar told me very different....that they had been using the teardrop "forever"......I passed that onto the guy at Queens and he got really snippy with me, insisting the tech at Lokar was wrong. He ended up saying he would exchange the bracket/springs I recieved  for the Lokar kit if I sent back the ones I have...then I asked who would pay for the return and he got REALLY snippy.....I then asked for the address and he said "didnt you get our catalog at the show?"  I said "yeah, I did"....He says  "Well, our address is on there.".  Itst he way he said it more than what he said.  What...he couldnt spare 20 seconds to tell me the address on the phone??

I did my best to not get p.o'd.....AT the show I had asked for LOKAR stuff...and thats what I expected....

So we will see how quickly Queens takes care of this.  :pullinghair:

I believe that the Lokar stuff is being counterfeited. I bought a supposed Lokar throttle cable from a seller on Ebay and when I got it, it was in a plastic bag with no Lokar packaging and the instructions looked like they had been photocopied.
