damper /Crank Bolt small block 340 la

hi 
I need some help ,

the damper is 0,6" thicker then the orginal damper

very diffecult to get it on in the begining .. 
but it getting loose after  turning the engiens to high rpm
now the damper is easy to push  on the crank   .. by hand 
the crank bolt  ( 2,25 " bolt long )  need only 3 turns   the it  tight    is the damper bad

need a longer bolt  or a  damper ?

( runnig with procharger so I have adapter + the pully on the damper )

crank  Bolt Thread Size it that :3/4  with 16 Thread  ?

Well you have either worn out the snout on the crank, or the dampener.  The bolt should screw in 3/4 of an inch or so as I recall. Maybe more.   3 turns in the threads isn't even close and very dangerous.  You sure you are getting the dampener all the way up to the lower timing chain sprocket? It has to be pressed in place, or pulled into place.

some of the new dampers liek the fluid damper are made too small & need to be opened up a thou or more to get onto the crank snout properly

they are fine thread , for that size I cannot remember how many threeads / inch

They have a tool for this. It uses a long bolt with the same thread size. There is a large nut with a large washer that is attached to the bolt as well. After you set the damper in place, you insert the bolt(tool) and tighten until it bottoms out. Then you tighten the nut which presses the washer into the damper and presses the damper into place. After it's in place, you remove the long bolt (tool) and insert the correct bolt and torque. This prevents you from stripping the threads on the snout (you strip the tool if anything)...Good Luck..

think that the damper is bad .. it can go all the way in to timer mark and tak  itof with the hand !
so I may order  a new damper
