Greetings from Georgia
« on: May 04, 2009 - 10:14:37 PM »
Hello All!  Just a little background on myself. For all MOPAR fans please read this post in its entirety.  I work as a Service Advisor for a Ford dealership in Atlanta and my family are HUGE Mustang Fans.  We have a '66 and a '10 mustang.  Our '08 mustang we traded for ....... wait for it....... a '09 Hemi Orange Challenger R/T.  I actually had a Challenger on order but the order was cancelled when the plants were taken off line.  I attempted a dealer trade, but -yeah- no dealer in their right mind would let go one of these gems.  Every dealer I called told me virtually the same thing, "we just sold the last one".  I drove 70 miles to the largest Dodge dealer in Georgia and we purchased the R/T plus a Silver SRT8.  Dodge hit a home run with the Challenger and like them just as much as our mustangs.  (FYI the 2010 Mustangs are leaps and bounds improved over the 2005-2009 models!)  We picked up the Challengers on Saturday and I drove the R/T to work today and left it in the service drive.  Most of the employees there had not seen a Challenger in Person and did that car get a LOT of attention.  In fact the service manager kept coming out of his office to look at the car saying, "This is a beautiful car and this is how American cars should be."  I have to agree as nice as the Mustang is, the  Challenger has styling which conjures up childhood memories of muscle car greatness that no other car presently can match.  Over the past couple of days, many people have asked, "which do you like better, the mustangs or the challengers."  That's like asking which Child do you love more?  If you will bear with me for a moment I will give you my personal opinion on the strong and weak points of the new Challenger R/T vs the new 2010 Mustang.

Interior                                                                         B-                  A+
Agility                                                                           A                  A-
Roominess                                                                     A+                 B-
Coolness Factor                                                              A+                 A-

Anyway, the Challenger is one Bad-Ass car and has captured the hearts and minds of the Muscle car nation.  It really is too bad, once again, it came to the party so late.

  Welcome to the forum, FORDMOPAR70!  If it were not for the new Mustangs, I don't think Dodge would have recreated the Challenger. Which now brings the new Camaro into the picture, if GM survives.  Living in metro-Detroit tends to make you appreciate ALL the Big 3 muscle car offerings.

I know that every time I see a new Challenger my head turns.  I live very close to the Flat Rock plant where the Mustangs are built, so I feel like I'm in a corral at times.  Glad to see that you're open minded about the Challenger even though you work at FOMOCO.  Beauty is beautiful and even the competition can't deny that!  Would like to see some pictures of your new Challenger.

They changed the picture on the factory recently, I haven't taken my camera with me lately to get a new picture.

Welcome to the site.  Glad you like the new challenger.  I looked at another one last night at the local dealership.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Yeah we have a '66 mustang and a 2010.  We have owned a 2008 gt500, 2008 v6, 2007 gt, 2006 gt.  I kept trading up, one of the curses of working for a Ford dealership.  I think I am done now, well until I get a better look at the 2010 GT that is (kidding).   ;D  BTW, the GT500 was nice but I honestly have to say I'd rather drive the challenger -- and I work for Ford!

Welcome to the site, FORDMOPAR70!  That's cool you work at Ford, but don't mind owning a MoPar product that you are obviously quite impressed with.  When you get a chance, you should definitely post up some photos of your current vehicle fleet 'cause they sound like some very cool cars. :2thumbs:
