« on: May 01, 2009 - 11:17:21 AM »
Does anyone know the correct factory finish for the front disc brake splash shield for a 70 R/T challenger?

Thanks in advance.

Both the originals and the repro ones are zinc plated.  Fairly sure this is correct for all.

Is there a paint that can be used to simulate this Zinc finish?

Eastwood has paints for this purpose, but in my opinion they tend to look alot like paint even when they are applied very well.  I have used them and will probably continure to use them on driver cars.  It looks better than rusty or dirty parts, but will not fool too many people. :2cents:

why don`t you have them zinc plated again?  not very expensive to do so...  :2cents:

thanks for the info,

Here is a pic of a shield being sold trough a vendor.  If this is correct, and if the part is zinc plated, it appears to have a gold tint to it.  Is this correct??

Could just be the pic.  I've never seen them with a "gold" tinge.
