« on: May 05, 2009 - 08:38:09 AM »
Does anyone know how to make/hook up a voltage indicator light...so the light comes on if the volts in the car drop below a certain point?

I want to get rid of the aftermarket gauges hanging below my dash, but with the AMP gauge bypassed, I also want to havesoemthign to alert me to any charging issues.  I know where I can put the light, but do not know how to make it work...any thoguhts?

Found this one product......  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&refid=store&item=370187699617&category=50461&viewitem=

I'm looking for a electronics Guru for the same issue...I believe a shunt ran in parallel would allow the use of the ammeter with most of the load staying in the main line. I will post if I ever get an solution

You definitely need to be concerned with over-voltage as much as you do with under. Our cars can have parts fail and over-charge things in a hurry! Either the light listed above, or a cheapo voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter when driving..
