Heater box cover
« on: May 05, 2009 - 10:22:50 AM »
Hi,
I found this broken plate bolted on the front of my heater box cover.  Someone knows what is the name of this part and how it works ?
I guess I need to replace it.

thanks.

That is your resistor plate for the fan motor. The fan switch runs through it to produce low and hi speeds from the motor.

The A/C verision is a four pin resistor plate and is different from the non A/C three pin versions.

thanks Slotts,

I didn't understand yet how it works.  Can you post me a link or a photo of the part ?

I have an A/C car but the system is not working and I removed all A/C componets from my engine bay.   I still need this resistor ?

Let me see if I can find one for you. Yes, you still need that resistor if you plan to use the fan motor. You should at least be able to run that heater box for heat to defog the windshield if necessary. I'll see if I can come up with one this weekend.
