Fuel leak from tank overflow
« on: May 10, 2009 - 12:54:34 PM »
Hey folks, I've noticed that if my fuel tank is at least half full and I've been "on it" while I was out, when I get back I see a few drops of gas coming from the fuel overflow tube.  It's all bent in the correct locations.  No return line.  Just wondering I guess if this is normal or if there is a technique I could use to stop this?  I don't like that gas near the exhaust.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean. Is this the vent tube on the fill tube to the tank, or do you have a California emissions car without something I have?

Yeah, I guess it's called the vent tube.  It comes off the fuel tank sending unit, up through the trunk and makes a bend back down and then hides in the chassis.

That sounds like the vent tube that I have on my fill tube. I didn't know they put them on the sending unit.   :screwy:

I've had that happen before too.  Make sure your gas cap is vented.  I drilled my vent ball check out to allow easier breathing.
