I agree. I work in an industrial seting just like you Al and I never want to work around anyone under the influence of anything, its dangerous enough as it is. I have no illusions that our company would say "smokem boys!" if the law were to change. I would not want to anyway. Just because I say legalize it does not mean I want to partake, just seems like common sense to change the law regarding the recreational use of marijuana.

It would be great if there were no drugs in this world but the point some of us are trying to make is that there already are many drugs(including alcohol) that are readily avalable either over the counter or prescription and if they are legal than pot should be also.

I've pondered this angle for several hours and all I can make of this is legalize pot to be fair.  Is that what y'all mean?   If so I don't get it.

Just because alcohol may or may not be worse doesnt mean we should leagalize pot to "be fair". if that is anyones reasoning for it then i just dont get that. There are a lot of things in the country that arent "fair". is it fair that there are millions of people in this country (Abusing) food stamps and welfare, and that the government is using part of my tax money to pay for it. is it fair that the government gives millions of students whos parents dont make much money, tons of money to pay for college, but expects me (whos parents make decent money, but make too much for me to qualify for government aid) to find someway to pull 30K a year out of my A** to pay for my college. Legalizing something just to be "fair" because something else that is worse is legalized would be dumb.  As the old saying goes "two wrongs dont make a right"

M point is not to make it fair. I think I may have been misunderstood. The point I am trying to make is that I feel it is not near as bad and dangerous as it has been made out to be. I used alcohol as kind of a reference or analogy. I think it is way less dangerous than alcohol. I made the connection to that saying that if alcohol is legal, then why should something less dangerous be illegal. It would be like if rocket launchers were legal, but bb guns weren't.
