Any one use a hydrobreak system?

The system replaces the booster and makes use of the power steering pump for its power. I guess used for space limitations and or cars with big cams that have little vacume to spare.

  My friend needs something like this as his valve cover hits the booster with the new heads he has. (non Mopar car).  Just wondering if anyone here has used the system on a muscle car? In fact I am cutting a rocker off a Suburban today and it has the factory version of this system on it. So I guess it works well with a stock vehicle.

Hydraboost systems are becoming more common. Dodge trucks (at least the deisels for sure) have them from the factory. My Dad works for a high end cobra builder and he uses hydraboost systems exclusively on his cars. From what I hear they are definitely the way to go.

I believe Carlwalski put one in his car. The hydroboost system has been around for a long time and is a proven system. I've seen several writeups in the car mags where they have been used with excellent results.

73 E stroker & confederate Cuda also adapted the Hydroboost , it works great as long as you have power steering to tap the pressure from

I've had the Hydraboost system on my 71 BB Vette for 5 years now.  Once dialed in it has been trouble free and definately improved pedal feel and brake response.

Mine is off a AWD Chev AstroVan. Will take pictures tomorrow (promise) both under the dash and under the hood. You can use the stock bellcrank setup that the vacuum system used. Total cost for the setup about $100 using a second hand hydraboost from the wreckers.

We have 6 or 7 at work but our inventory guy prices just the booster at about $150.  Thats without the master lines and brackets.

Here are the pictures of my installation. I used the original bellcrank and installed a HEIM joint on hydra unit by cutting down the original plunger rod and putting a male thread on it. This aligns the plunger rod more straight into the hydra unit and reduces the pedal pressure applied (read - less of a chance of locking the wheels too easy)Don't forget the locking nut on the HEIM or the rod will turn and you will have brakes applied when you do not want them. You will need a large 1" thick aluminum block on the engine side between the booster and the firewall. The rest should be pretty much self explanatory. I will always help with any further questions.

I have Hydratech's kit. It'll put you through the windshield if you mash the brake pedal. :bigsmile:
