Yes I saw that as well but I think this is the tip of the iceburg so to speak on GM.  Things are going to get a lot worse around for jobs now.  I hate to hear this news because of the job losses that it will cause.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

:) The dealer ship here where i work was not on the list, thank god.but three dealers in a 15 mile radius were giving notice they are shutting them down, one is a very large dealership here in mnpls mn and we were all surprise that they were one of them.i feel bad for all the employee's especially with all the other dealer closesures around the st paul/mnlps area the way it is.there will be numerous people in the auto field looking for work and not enough jobs to go around.glad i have 4 1/2 years to go for my 30 yrs and out.  :clapping:

I live in a town that has about 1000 people, i fear that our dealership may be getting shut down.

Someone please explain to me how the dealerships could loose GM money, Arent they independently owned and just get commision off the vehicles they sell?? I know that the employees get stock options in GM and im sure they get somesort of retirement, but arent they paid by the person who owns the dealership??

just a thought here but the dealers have to auction the inventorys and not retail them . just think what this will do to everyones car values that have purchased in the last few years when all the inventorys hit auction . :faint:

They will not be auctioning anything off, GM will be repurchasing the vehicles, tools, and other equipment.  So resale value will not be affected.  The dealers are not being terminated, but at the end of their contracts in 2010 they will not be renewed.
