new family member
« on: May 26, 2009 - 10:19:21 AM »
Just got back from Southern Illinois this last weekend, a friend of our's duaghter is in Kentuck as her husband is staioned there in the army. She has been finding homes for pets as people have been transferring to other bases. She was at their local walmart and heard a lady cussing up a storm near where they were parked, she went over to the lady and asked her to not use such foul language in front of her kids, low and behold while she was there, this lady had a male **** su that was extremly malnurished and blind, the lady said she was going to have it put to sleep as she couldn't afford to feed it. This lady had full cartons of cigarettes that she had just bought though, so our friend told her she would find a home for the dog and not let it be put down. She called us and we went and got it. Poor guy only weighs about 6 pounds, he is about 2 years old and you can see and feel every bone in his body. this makes the 5th dog and 2 cats that we have now rescued.

I don't understand people, if you can't or won't take care of an animal, you shouldn't get one! Sometimes I would like to treat these owners the way they treat these poor animals.

Sorry to vent, but it really ticks me off

Good for you.  My mother works with a dog rescue group down in South Carolina, and she regularly drives 50+ miles to transport dogs to new homes.  She was telling me about a dog that was in Florida that was adopted by a family in Connecticut, I believe.  A whole group of volunteers along the coast worked together to get it up north.  Each member would drive it anywhere from 50 to 100 miles, and pass it on to the next person.  It took several days, but it made it up no problems.

I don't understand it either. :dunno:  I had a neighbor that all he could say about his dog was that it was just a dumb animal. To me, if a person can treat their pet that way, it won't be long and they will be doing it to people. Lot of sicko's in this world.

Take care of the little guy. :2thumbs:
Don't look back, I might be gaining on you.

No excuse for treating a pet like that. They are extended family whether people admit it or not. Kudos for rescuing that poor thing. I bet its already in hog heaven just getting a decent meal and a warm place to sleep.   :clapping:

i think you spelled it $hit-zu above, so the censor saw the first part of the word and blocked it out.  The correct spelling is "Shi-tzu."

Good job on taking the dog off her hands.   :clapping:  No animal deserves that kind of treatment.

Bullitt,

These are all of my Shih tzu's, they are all rescue puppys, I can't get them to all sit together like yours.

these are in order of adoption
