Trans leaking again!!!
« on: May 26, 2009 - 07:27:54 PM »
Ok, bought and installed a rebuilt 727 and convertor because the old one was leaking out the front. After install I had started the car in nuetral and filled the trans up with juice. Adjusted the linkage and took for a spin. Runs great, shifts great. Take it back to the house and go inside. Came back out and it's leaking the same place as the old one, out of the front. What to do now?

So you changed the trans AND the converter?

I did change both. I loaded the converter with trans fluid before I put it in. I must have drove it 150 miles by now thinking it was just fluid working it's way out but it's still leaking the same amount. I really don't want to drop the trans again if I don't have to.

Bad Luck?  :clueless: Are they covered under warranty? Does it leak running ,or sitting with the engine off,or both?

It just leaks when the engine is off and sits for about a hour.

Does the converter have a drain plug, and if so is it tight?

So was the trans rebuilt? If it only leaks sitting,it has to be the pump "O" ring or porosity in the case..

Which means dropping the trans for the 4th time. I was hoping for a better fix then throwing out my back again. Oh well  :faint:

Why isn't it their job to pull it? You put it in right.

Seems odd to have two different trannys and verts both leaking from the same place.  ???

Are you sure your tranny line doesn't have a pinhole leak that's spraying tranny fliud on the front making it look like the tranny itself is leaking? Just a thought.

Did they rebuilt your old trans using the same case / if so maybe it is crack.

This os why I pony up and pay the $250 or whatever it is now and have the shop pull the trans...been there..put a rebuilt trans in only to have to re pull it out.
