71 Chally Trunk and Hood Chrome
« on: August 29, 2009 - 01:40:59 AM »
Wanting to put the chrome trim on the deck lid and hood.  What do the pieces look like that hold the chrome on?  Pics would be great.  Thanks!

Does this look like the correct part to hold the trunk piece on?

Does this look correct to hold the chrome on the hood?

Thanks!

'71 hood trim had a flange and screwed in from underneath the hood.  Mine has been missing so long I don't remember if there were also clips between it and the front of the hood, sorry.  There was a long time where the '71 trim was unavailable and not reproduced; I remember buying NOS replacement trim that didn't have the flange, so used clips of some kind, but its packed away so I can't check the fastener kit that came with it.

The pics of the trunk molding clips look like I remember mine did when it came off.

If you buy your tail panel trim from www.beaparts.com they will already come with the clips needed to install them.

I bought my trim from them and it looks great.  The trim from Metro doesn't fit right.  The BE&A trim fits great.  The only problem with it is that it is a lot shinier than new.  If you are going for 100% correct that will not work but for me...the shinier the better.

Thanks!  I already have the chrome piece that goes in the front and rear.  I just do not have (at least I do not think so) the clips, screws, whatever it is that holds those pieces (1 piece on front edge of hood and 1 piece in back on edge of trunk lid) on.  I wonder if the chrome pieces that go around the rear tail lights have the same design clip?  I guess I could pull it off and check, but I thought (or hoped) that someone here probably had some experience on this.

Just call up Tom from R/T.  He will know exactly what you need.

The links you posted are probably right but Tom will know for sure.
