Amazing how these car crumple up.  I guess the bigger you are, the harder you fall.    Maybe due to poor design, more mass=more momentum=more force, I dunno....    Poor crash test dummies...

thanks for sharring . so many people to this day think a suv is safer than a compact but not true . the compact will total and its owner will walk away , but a suv will beat ya stupid . its all about blunt force trama ,when a car compreses you reduce momentum . again good post .

funny I did not see any GM products, mostly late 50's early 60's Plymouths & at the end a mid 60's Ford...

As to little car VS big truck....You should have seen the Malibu that plowed into the full size P/U that then hit my wife's SUV.... complete total of the Malibu, you had to look hard to find damage to the P/U bumper.  I'm sure in a different situation things could have been worse for the truck.

a pu is not an suv its a truck and if you look at safty records suvs fail badly . a truck can have little or no damage and cause neck and back injuries , but when a compact wads up you can walk away with nothing more than air bag rash . i also was in a truck that was hit so hard it z ed the frame and the camaro was wiped out the lady was unhurt and no car ,i had a chipped vertabre and two broken fingers but yahoo i still have the truck who won here.

I was re-ended by a drunk driver in a Chevy S-10 pickup when I had a 1970 Chrysler station wagon. It was not a pretty site. Bumper, grille, hood, fenders, radiator, fan, water pump and headlights. Antifreeze was pouring out and the bumper was smashed up into the grille. The Wagon had 1 damaged bumperette.

You can see how important these tests were for engineers to develop safety systems.  Do those tests with head rests, seat belts, airbags and designed crumple zones and the dummies get out and say "WTF"
