The missing digit where the spring mark is would be a "0", so the full VIN of the car it matches is BP23G0B160427

I have not heard of the car before, but if it surfaces I will contact you.

My pleasure. It is printed on a left over sheet from the 1969 model year too, this is fairly common. If you have a scanner I would apprecate a full image of it for my files.
