If I set the camber to -.5*, will that automaticaally set the caster to max?

No
to max the caster you need to turn the front eccentric all the way out & the rear all the way in , then back off the setting slightly if you need to correct the camber

Does that mean the lobe on the front eccentric points towards the fender and the rear eccentric points towards the engine?

Here's what I got with a stock front end and radial tires BFG 235 60R15.  Left side camber -.5*, castor +2*.  Right side camber -.75*, and castor +1.5*.  Is this good for every day driving/cruising?  Also is the difference from left to right side ok with the crown in todays roads?

depends on the crown but I think you probably have it as good as it gets
