recommended big block torsion bars
« on: June 08, 2009 - 04:59:37 PM »

So I am putting a 440 in my challenger since the 318 is blown.  I need to upgrade the suspension. I am going with the stock rear bog block springs, but for the front, Im not sure whether 1.0" torsion bar is ok, or whether I would need larger, like a 1.06" or 1.08".  I am also putting on aftermarket front and rear sway bars.

It will just be a driver but I would like it to handle better than my CJ7 (although not as rough a ride).

I went with 1 " after asking on here. The car is  still being worked on so I can't tell you how the ride is. I have a 440 also. I got mine from Just Suspension

Just a driver will work very nicely with 1.0" bars. Considerably firmer than your old 318 bars without being harsh. Consider a step up to some good shocks too, like an Edelbrock or fixed valved Koni or single adjustable QA1.

Are 318 and 383 bars the same?

So are the .960 considered the 1" ones.....Mancini Racing offers them up to .960" and advertises them as Improved "B/RB" and Hemi handling   :dunno: I havn't seen 1" advertised

hope I didn't hijack this thread

.96 are the next upgrade & are bigger than any production bar used , Mopar has dicontinued any of the larger than .96 bars now so you have to get them from Firm Feel or PST if you want 1"or bigger
