I have finally found something good about Challengers!
« on: June 12, 2009 - 07:30:49 PM »
At last i have found something good about Challengers ....that crease in the side makes a great line to cut and weld the new 1/4's to!  I always thought it was ugly compared to the Cuda's sleek, smooth flanks, but now I have seen the light! :woo:

I am in the process of trying to decide how much of the 1/4 on my Barracuda needs replacing, and I can't really find any natural place to cut to, other than the slight crease in the side...but my bodyworking skills are pretty minimal and I'm not all that confident it would look good.  I am thinking of just repairing the lower 6 or 8 inches, the area under the bottom bend in the rear 1/4.

Oh well, at least I have developed some respect for Challengers, so it is all good.  :2thumbs:

I am going to replace both rear quarters.  I am replacing the whole quarter and the top as well  and the dutch panel as well.  Thought about doing something different but decided to just replace all of it and be done with it to get all of the rust out of my car.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Just replace the bottom if possible. That body line is so faint that I'm paying my friend to block sand them for me. And I used the whole skin. If you use the body line as a weld line, it would make it harder to get straight again.  But that's just my two cents.

That is pretty much what I want to do.  The metal above the wheel well and most of the quarter other than the bottom 6 or 8 inches seems solid.  Are there patch panels available for just the bottom of the 1/4?

I also have to do the trunk extensions/dropoffs.

Got my Sheetmetal from www.Megaparts.com they carry Goodmark and AMD sheetmetal. that is where I got most of it. If you want just rear and front quarter patch panels, www.autobodyspecialt.com has them. I don't know about the quality but they post here so maybe you can ask them yourself.
