Changed R/T exhaust
« on: June 07, 2009 - 05:21:28 PM »
Thoroughly disappointed with the mellow exhaust tone from my R/T, I began looking at options. :-\
1. complete Magnaflow cat-back system with X-pipe   .... $1,200.00  :faint:
2. Flowmaster cat-back system .... $600.00 - would Flowmaster provide enough sound  :dunno:
3. Custom exhaust $375 - $450.  Specialist says vehicle already has great exhaust just remove the mufflers and resonators and replace them with something else flowmaster or magnaflow.

all these decisions  :banghead:

Well I chose none of the above .  I had the rear resonators removed first - sounded a little better but still too mellow. So I decided to roll the dice on a couple of Cherry Bombs in place of the ginormous muffler.  I am not a big fan of the crackly, poppy exhaust but it was cheap enough to give it a try, so two red glass packs were installed.

So how does it sound?  Well my wife rode in the car and said, "it sounds just like the mustang in Bullit".  BINGO!  :jumping:

Oddly enough my son described it exactly the same way (referring to Bullit) - sounds mean  :burnout:. It has a much lower tone than I figured it would and is not obnoxiously loud.

Maybe I missed it, but 6-speed or auto? My SRT 6-speed, I removed the rear resonators and it is loud and proud, I love it.

Auto, acceleration is fantastic and using the auto stick on decel sounds awesome!
