I could use some help with my 383 HP rebuild. I have an engle K-56 cam with the 833 springs. Engle recommends the minimum installed height, of the valve springs, at 1.90 inches to prevent excessive cam wear. My problem is that after the valve job the spring height was at 1.85 inches. The shop that is rebuilding my heads said that he is relutant to cut the spring pockets to get to 1.90 inches spring height. The other problem is the 833 springs are a larger diameter then the stock springs and he said the springs, because of the size difference, may move around in the pocket causing wear to the spring pockets. Also the stock retainers don't sit in the springs very well as they are a smaller diameter than the springs. The new springs are also taller than the stock springs. My options are to use the old valve springs or to get another set, but what kind. I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks, Steve
