I fear that Chrysler is going to become a company that has nothing but boring little fuel efficient cars. I think any vehicle that has power will be phased out in favor of high gas mileage. This looks like it is going to be similiar to the Daimler "merger". Fiat will only have 35% ownership once the US government is paid back, but the CEO is going to be from Fiat. This is going to be an Italian company.
I pray that I am wrong, but I don't have a good feeling about this deal turning out well for Chrysler (and Americans).....
I disagree.
The Italians, namely the Fiat/Lancia/Maserati/Lamborgini make some BADASS cars.
The Alfa Brera - The modern Mustang of Europe A car of pure s#x and performance.
The Alfa 147 - The VW GTI of Italy
The Fiat 500 - As cool as the cooper, but not the hi cost.
Maserati Quattroporte - A beautifully executed performance sedan
The Lamborgini -the Gallardo, the Muira concept, The Reventon - All badass cars. All governed by
Sergio.
The Punto and all the other cars we have a stigma about are well executed, they just don't appeal to some American tastes.
No one is saying that they are going to take away what makes us special. Some past management did that on their own...(not mentioning names)
All these cars are about as expressive as you can get, and very finely executed. I beleive wholeheartedly that this will be great for Chrysler as a company, and even better for America.
I heard Sergio speak yesterday. He is an intelligent man who intends on flattening out management, and righting the wrongs of the beurocracy that was here before. The fact that he brings ACCOUNTABILITY to Chrysler is even better. People who are empowered as leaders are (gulp) Fired if they do not get it right. We have never had that before. Halleluyah!
Things will change.
HIstory is in the making.
