a new site to help you
« on: April 09, 2005 - 11:57:03 AM »
The other day while I was looking at Shows and Drags forum, I noticed how many sites there were on Carlisle caravans. I noticed there was a lot of back and forth conversations of who is meeting who where and when.
So I came up with an idea that I first shared with April. She liked it and said that she would tell Ross of my idea. She also said that I should share it with you all to help get some feed back on how to get it going.
So here it goes:
First of all, Name the site. "member location"  or something like that.
When you click on it. A picture of the North America comes up.
It would be divided into divisions, say west, central, east, and of course Canada.
The map would be green or blue let's say.
Every member that is going to Carlisle would have a small yellow dot as to where they are located.
When you put your arrow to the dot, their member name comes up.
maybe an option then to go to their profile also.
This would allow everybody that is going to see where they sit as far as all the others, so they can be better prepared to meet up along the way.
Now this won't be easy but it does have some merit also for other members  of other areas besides.
If we had everybody on the map, you would be near members that you didn't even know existed.
That would mean that you could meet or e-mail people near you.
The benefits of doing this are unfathomable.
This is just an idea that was suggested I share with you. So that we could hear your input also.

Nice idea. That takes an idea that's been discussed many times before, a location map or link listing a member's location as listed in a given profile, and giving that the flexibility to indicate the caravans.

One more thing that would be good to add.
In some areas, there will be more than one member that are very close to each other.
The dots would overlap.
Using a color code would suggest that there are more than one member in that location.
So for example, if it was just one member, it would be a yellow dot.
If there were 2 members the dot color would be orange.
More  than 3 members in a small location and the dot turns red.
so on and so forth.
