heater box mounting
« on: June 22, 2009 - 04:24:11 PM »
On the 3 studs that stick thru the firewall to mount the heater box,is there just the nuts that tighten against the firewall,or is there a plate that slides on first?

There's no plate, but there is a hook inside the vent, where it mates to the cowl, that holds the box up and in.

A hard item to find. I don't think they're being re popped at all. You could make one from a threaded stud and bend it into a J with a picture of it next to a ruler. They're on E bay once in a while.

It wouldn't hurt to put some flat washers between the firewall and nuts.

The correct heater box attaching hardware should have the washer - similar to the attaching hardware used on seat frame studs underneath the floorpan. The 'washer' diameter will be slightly smaller on the hardware used to attach the heater box.
