The 370/429/460 engines were in the "385" engine family that replaced the FE. It was more like a BB Chevy than the FE engine it replaced that had weird narrow heads with the Intake being part of the valve cover rail  :2thumbs:

Are FE engines in the suicide door Conti's? I know where there is a black one for sale around here with a supposed running engine. I think I remember the guy saying it had an FE engine in it. Didnt look too close at it though.

Yes, but the engine might only be a 390.  Most blocks say 352 on the left front of the block, only way to tell a 428 for sure is too look internally at crank and block casting numbers.  The 427 had cross bolt maincaps like the hemi.
Many engines have their place in history.  In 1966 the "farm engine"  placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd at the 24 hours of Le Mans and won the Index of Efficiency for speed and fuel economy.  The 427 FE's in the GT 40's dominated the LeMans races for 4 years.

Thanks All, I got the manifold on and no leaks.  :jumping:

I still have some final tuning to do, but she sure runs sweet and no more stalling while shifting.
