Old Time Garage!

I hate to admit it but I'm not much of a mechanic.  When I need major work done on my car I get a professional.
Since 1980 I have been lucky to have a great mechanic that loves old cars and knows everything about them.   When I visit his garage you step back in time.   Just wondered if there are any other "Old Time Garages" still left out there in the North America?

I'm posting a few pictures of what he allowed me to shoot.   There is an area in the back of the shop that I've never seen and he never offers to show me so I expect it's full of stuff with personal sentiment & value to him.

sounds and looks like a great place to get your service, unless you own the cars in the weeds!!

there used to be lots of little shops like that when i was back in illinois.
then they started dissappearing.
to bad, i miss that comfortable feeling of walking into a proprietors shop, and he actually knew what the hell was going on. nowadays, well, i digress..

I rented a small house about 20 years ago, it had the EXACT same red / chrome table & chairs shown in the bottom photo.

Once upon a time....

I love that stuff. For the most part it was before my time but I'm quite fascinated by it all. I love old pics and whatnot as well.

Yeah, I know it's a yenko site, but the pics are fantastic and I like to find the old mopar shots.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It reminds me of why I love the movie CARS so much. It was definitely a different time and era. A lot of my buddies, today, have never even popped the hood on their vehicles. That depresses me.

Cool.  Looks just like the one we used to ride our bikes to in the small town i grew up in the late 70s. We would try to bounce the bike tire on the hose that made the bell ring. The owner would accually take the time to put a patch on a flat bike tire for us, Someone still does body work there but no gas pumps or cig machine, bottled pop machine most that stuff is long gone.
