Daytona question.
« on: May 19, 2009 - 02:44:21 PM »
Anyone know what year hoods will interchange with an 88 Shelby ?  I can get one off an 89, but I don't know if it is the same.

Thanks,

to my knowledge there are the 3 body styles , early 84-86 , mid 87-91 & 92-94 all Shelby hoods in the 87-91 range will interchange unless someone knows different

Yep, I believe all the hidden headlight years interchange hoods.  :2thumbs:

Although 1988 was the last year of the Shelby the hood latches didn't change until 1990 so you should be just fine Pistol

1984 were their own...1985/86 latch is in the same spot...1987 thru to 1989 were the same

Thanks all.

It's a real wake up having the hood in your face at 70 on the highway  :burnout:

I may just buy the whole parts car and have a spare everything laying around.

88 was not the last year of a Shelby in the Daytona. It was 1991.

88 was not the last year of a Shelby in the Daytona. It was 1991.

I apologize I did not double check my reply before posting...I neglected to add the Z

1988 was the last year of the Z model

And you are correct part way thru '91 they stopped the Shelby to introduce the IROC

Another question,

I can get a hood off a 91 non-turbo.  It doesn't have a bulge.  Anyone know if the bulge is functional or just for show ?  I can look when I get home, but am at work.

It's really more for show. You could get a base model with the turbo I that didn't have the bulge hood.

Moparal,

Thanks for the offer, I'll have more than enough parts if I get the 91.  If I don't, I'll just keep looking for another parts car.  They show up pretty regularly here.

The only thing you misspelled was mis spell .
