Anyone have Inner fender, rad support install tips
« on: June 20, 2009 - 12:27:33 AM »
I am getting ready to install some new inner fenders, radiator support, and xv stiffening components and was hoping to hear tips tricks or advice you guys may have. the originals were banged up pretty good I thought that I should do it now while the car is on a rotissery. I was told to drop the car down and set it on jack stands for the inner fender install and so far thats all I got. Thanks in advance

I replaced one on my 70 cuda (see thread below). It wasn't that bad. I had the car on the ground under its own weight, drilled out all the spot welds and removed the inner fender and then welded in the new one.

thanks. I guess i was a little concerned because both of my inners were damaged and I wanted to install the new ones as straight as possible without a real straight base to start with.

To start out get as many measurements as you can get. When you start replacing the metal don't weld anything, use sheetmetal screws to hold it together so you can test fit all the panels. After it all lines up then weld.  :2thumbs:

Thats the way. get together with the metal screws, measure it twice even comparing dimensions on a note book, and when you got just teh way you like it, most of the time as good as you can, then weld it up. Best of luck and just don't get in a hurry. I know I had to back off from my car yesterday for a while but after an a/c break in the apt. I was back out in the woods working with the lights till 12:30 this morning!I justd got in the groove and things keep going together. So I stayed with it till I couldn't find my allen wrenches. then time for shower and sleep. Hadve a Great Mopar DAy all. :jumping:

dude, just wacked them off and weld. Just kidding. :smilielol: get the body manual and look at the top cross dimensions as well as the frame rail dimensions. cross measure , screw it together or small tack welds. if you need help let me know.
