Ward's Automotive Yearbooks are a great source of automotive statistics. They are hardbound books with around 200-300 pages of information. You'll find them offered on ebay from time-to-time. Make sure you get the right year - the 1971 edition for example, will showcase 1971 model cars and have 1970 model production statistics.
