I'll throw in my :2cents: on the subject of motor.  A 400 with a 440 crank gives you a 452, an extremely torquey, fun motor that has gotten a lot cheaper to build over the last few years.  It's not a lot more expensive than a regular 400 rebuild, either.  If you have anything other than a 318, I'd side with the small block build, but you'll always end up wanting more power.

So here's an update......I got the car to my place finally and started checking things out. Turns out the motor that's in it is a 400 and the spare block with crank and heads is a 383. I guess I'll be going big block on this one, but my question for the everyone is which motor to rebuild ? Pics are coming. My camera card was full....

I would still vote on the small block for your car.  But that is me I love the small blocks.  I have had my share of big blocks in the past but do not want another one.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development
