1973 Barracuda 340 Hardtop
« on: July 17, 2009 - 11:22:34 PM »
Here's my newly purchased 1973 H-code "Barracuda" in factory TB3 paint, with 3.23 gear, automatic column shift, console delete, stripe delete, N41 exhaust tips, dual exhaust, front/rear swaybars, with the body side moulding and deluxe hubcaps.

It has 97,352 actual miles on it.  Engine still turns over freely.  Paint is all original except the left rear quarter.  It had a minor dent repaired over 30 years ago.

I have started taking reference photos and collecting decals, labels, etc. for this car before I start taking it down for resto work.  Just received all of the correct reproduction decals for the engine bay, left door, and trunk today.

She's gonna need quarters, left inner fender panel, trunk extensions, outer wheel house and I'll probably replace the trunk floor just for grins while I am in there.  Trunk floor, floor pans and frame/crossmember look to be in good shape.

I found that there were 621 1973 Barracuda's sold with the 340 option.  Does anybody have any further information on the the number sold with auto trans?  Trying to see just how rare or not rare this car is.  It is a numbers matching BH23H3Bxxxxxx car built on 7/31/73.

Thanks,

Brian

There were usually almost double the autos to 4 spds so I`d guess around 400 +/-,either way I bet pretty rare considering the percentage of original cars left.

Thanks guys!  Sorry about the picture sizes!!  I meant to resize them to 800x600 but apparently I forgot.

This Barracuda is missing nothing, except the chrome exhaust tips, so far that I can tell.  There are even old parts that were replaced over the years, that are laying in the trunk.  The rusted out left front brake line is in the trunk, I guess the original owner didn't like throwing things away!

Thanks,

Brian
