Magnumforce disc brakes????
« on: August 10, 2009 - 11:13:58 PM »
Is anyone running these brakes?  How do you like/dislike them?  are there any issues?

Also, for the street use are vented rotors worth the extra coin?

We have wilwoods on the cuda.  Brakes are fine, but customer service was terrible.  Make sure it all fits before you bolt it up, because once you bolt it up they won't accept returns/exchanges.  I had a fit issue with my rear kit and just ended up machining the spacers to get the brackets to fit, because they wouldn't exchange the $25 spacers.  I noticed the spacers had voids in them from a poor casting when I cut them down.  I won't buy anymore products from them, but for now their brakes are on the car.  They work fine, I just can't recommend Wilwood to anyone.

Cross drilled and slotted are a taste issue for street driving, some people like the look.  On another note, I had to machine the dust cap so the center cap of the wheels would fit.  Not sure if anyone else has had this issue though.  American Racing AR500 wheels.

You will save some weight with that set up and get better pedeal feel with the four piston calipers, but with a 10.75 rotor, you are not going to get as much actual braking force. Heck, the small mopar rotor is 10.87. The factory big disc is 11.75. Combine the big disc combo with Wilwood or Viper calipers and you get the additional clamping feel along with more leverage.

For a streeet car, I wouldn't use anything but vented rotors. Solid rotors are designed for small, light weight street cars like Hondas or drag cars that that get a considerable cool down period between braking activity.

What are you planning on doing with the car. I think 10.75 A body swap or FMJ spindle swap would be fine for a street cruiser. Or mayble look for some 11.75 caliper adapters and run 11.75 rotors. Save that money from a willowood "street" 10.75 4 piston brake setup and spend it elsewhere.
